Safe Facilities

School Front

During the summer of 2013, thanks to the generous donations made to the Duke School Foundation, Duke School was able to make several improvements and upgrades to the safety and security of the school. The outside entrances have security cameras and visitors are now asked to buzz in before entering the school. All classrooms have new solid wood doors with security glass with new and improved locking devices. Since the underground portion of the school was built in the 1960’s, students, teachers, and community members have been able to use the facilities as a shelter from storms and bad weather. In the event that bad weather does arise, students in classrooms underground would remain in their classrooms while the few classrooms upstairs would make their way to safety underground.
